The 48-year-old fugitive was apprehended at 6:10 p.m. in Barangay Pag-asa, Bansud, Oriental Mindoro, according to a Police Regional Office Mimaropa report released Saturday. The arrest marks a significant development in law enforcement efforts across the island provinces.
Simultaneously, authorities in Occidental Mindoro accepted the surrender of a former member of a communist rebel group on the same day. The dual operations reflect ongoing security operations in the Mimaropa region, which encompasses Mindoro and surrounding areas.
The Police Regional Office Mimaropa did not immediately release additional details regarding the charges against the arrested man or the circumstances surrounding the rebel's surrender. Both cases are expected to undergo standard police processing procedures.
