The government has initiated an appeals mechanism for citizens whose applications to the Aswesuma welfare benefit programme were rejected, offering a second opportunity to access state support.

According to the overseeing board, 1,391,830 applications submitted for Aswesuma benefits have been classified as ineligible. The rejections were made in accordance with Section 11 of the scheme's governing regulations, which establishes eligibility criteria for recipients.

Applicants who received rejection notices are now permitted to lodge formal appeals challenging the ineligibility determination. The appeal process represents a recourse mechanism for those who believe their applications were incorrectly assessed or who wish to provide additional information supporting their eligibility claims.

The development provides relief to a substantial portion of applicants who were initially unsuccessful in securing welfare benefits under the scheme. Officials have not yet specified deadlines for submitting appeals or the timeline for processing reapplications.
