Over 1,800 Zambales residents evacuated as monsoon rains persist

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Continuous heavy rains prompted authorities to evacuate 604 families comprising 1,854 residents from communities across Zambales province on Monday, as wet weather conditions persisted throughout the region.
According to the Zambales Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, at least 261 families representing 899 individuals had sought shelter in designated evacuation centers by 3:00 p.m., with residents distributed across five towns in the province. An additional 343 families were reported to be displaced but not yet accommodated in official centers.
The evacuations underscored the ongoing threat posed by monsoon conditions affecting the region. Authorities have maintained alert status as residents in flood-prone and landslide-susceptible areas prepared for potential further displacement should rainfall intensify.
Provincial officials continued to monitor weather developments and coordinate relief operations to assist affected families. Emergency response teams remained on standby to provide assistance to evacuees sheltering in community centers and public facilities.
