Over 20 lakh voters struck off Odisha electoral roll
Odisha election authorities have removed more than 20 lakh voters from the state's electoral register during a recent review. The deletions were made on account of deaths, permanent relocations, and other administrative reasons.

State election officials in Odisha have completed a comprehensive review of the electoral roll, resulting in the removal of 20,12,000 voters from the registers across the state.
According to official records, the bulk of the deletions were attributed to two primary categories. Approximately 8,32,000 voters were struck off following confirmation of death, while another 8,08,000 were removed after evidence showed they had permanently shifted their residence to other states or regions.
The remaining deletions, totalling around 3,72,000, were processed for various other reasons including duplicate registrations, incomplete data, and administrative corrections identified during the verification process.
The electoral roll review is a routine exercise conducted by state election commissions to maintain accuracy and ensure that only eligible voters remain registered. Such purges help streamline the voting process and prevent potential discrepancies during elections.
