Over 20 million enumeration forms uncollected in Maharashtra electoral drive

Maharashtra's ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls has encountered a significant collection challenge, with over 20.7 million enumeration forms remaining uncollected from citizens, raising questions about the efficiency of the registration drive. The forms are critical documents needed to update the state's voter database ahead of scheduled electoral processes. Officials have intensified efforts to ensure maximum participation before key submission deadlines pass. While August 17 marks an important checkpoint, it is not the final cutoff for the revision process. The Election Commission will publish the first draft of the revised electoral roll on August 24, providing an opportunity for citizens to verify their details and make corrections. A 30-day window between August 24 and September 23 has been designated for voters to file claims and lodge objections against the draft roll. Electoral authorities have urged citizens to collect enumeration forms at their earliest convenience to avoid last-minute delays and ensure their names appear accurately on voting registers. The collection of uncompleted forms represents a critical gap in the registration process that could affect voter participation and the authenticity of the electoral roll.
