Over 23,000 passengers transit Philippine ports for All Souls' Day

MANILA — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recorded over 23,000 passenger movements at ports nationwide by Monday midnight as citizens embarked on journeys to commemorate All Souls' Day.

The PCG documented 12,108 outbound passengers and 11,414 inbound travelers during the monitoring period that began at midnight and continued through 6 a.m. Monday. The figures reflect the traditional surge in domestic travel during the religious observance, when many Filipinos visit family graves and cemeteries.

The Coast Guard District Western Visayas was among the regions tracking heightened maritime activity during the period. The monitoring operation was part of broader efforts by maritime authorities to ensure safe passage and maintain operational oversight during periods of high passenger volume.

The PCG's surveillance of passenger movement during major holidays reflects standard maritime safety protocols as thousands of citizens utilize ferry services and coastal vessels for interisland travel. The agency continues to monitor port operations to address any safety concerns that may arise during peak travel periods.
