More than 50 pilgrims from Tamil Nadu are stranded in Nepal following a flash flood that triggered multiple landslides along their travel route. The group, travelling in three vehicles, became trapped when the natural disaster disrupted road access in the affected region.
According to initial reports, occupants from one of the vehicles have taken refuge at an Armed Police Force outpost located in Timure, approximately 150 kilometres north of Kathmandu. The exact status and location of passengers in the remaining two vehicles remain unclear as rescue efforts continue.
The incident underscores the vulnerability of mountain routes in Nepal during the monsoon season, when heavy precipitation frequently triggers landslides and flash floods that can isolate travellers. Local authorities have been mobilized to assess the situation and coordinate rescue operations for the stranded pilgrims.
