More than 530 military, police and Coast Guard personnel participated in the second Interagency Exercise, called "Pagsasanay Sanlakas," which concluded Friday in Manila, according to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The joint training operation brought together personnel from the AFP, Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Coast Guard to evaluate their capacity to respond collectively to major earthquake scenarios. The exercise tested coordination protocols, communication systems and emergency procedures across the three agencies.
The drill represents part of broader disaster preparedness efforts across the Philippines, an archipelago frequently affected by seismic activity. Regular interagency exercises help identify gaps in response capabilities and strengthen coordination mechanisms essential during large-scale disasters.
The Philippines sits along the Pacific Ring of Fire, making earthquake preparedness a critical component of national security and public safety planning. Exercises such as Pagsasanay Sanlakas enable security forces to refine response strategies and ensure personnel from different agencies can work effectively during actual emergencies.
