Over 6,000 taxpayers rectify e-invoice records under penalty-free programme

KUALA LUMPUR — More than 6,000 taxpayers have utilised a penalty-free compliance programme to rectify their e-invoice transaction records, signalling broad participation in the Inland Revenue Board's effort to improve tax record accuracy.

The Voluntary Disclosure Programme for e-Invoice (PKPS) allows taxpayers to voluntarily correct discrepancies in their recorded transactions without incurring financial penalties or legal consequences. The initiative represents a key component of the tax authority's strategy to encourage compliance while addressing technical or administrative errors in the country's e-invoice system.

The substantial number of participants demonstrates taxpayers' willingness to resolve documentation issues when given an opportunity to do so without punitive measures. Tax experts view the programme as a pragmatic approach to addressing compliance challenges during the transition to mandatory electronic invoicing.

The Inland Revenue Board has not indicated an end date for the penalty-free initiative, though participation figures suggest continued engagement from the business community. Officials have previously emphasised the importance of accurate e-invoice records for both tax administration and business compliance purposes.
