Over 70 mosques across Kashmir, Jammu coordinate Friday sermons on faith
In a coordinated religious initiative, more than 70 major Friday congregations across Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh delivered sermons on a unified theme centred on imaan, or Islamic faith. The coordinated effort, organised by the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema, marked a rare instance of collective messaging across multiple religious institutions in the region.

More than 70 mosques and religious congregations across Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh synchronised their Friday sermons on October 16, delivering messages on a common theme of imaan, or Islamic faith, according to the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), an umbrella organisation of religious scholars.
The coordinated initiative represents an unusual collective effort among major religious institutions across the three administratively distinct regions of Jammu and Kashmir union territory and Ladakh. The MMU, which coordinated the effort, called upon congregations to participate in the unified messaging exercise.
According to an MMU spokesperson, the October 16 sermons marked a first-of-its-kind coordinated approach among such a large number of religious congregations across the region. The focus on imaan reflected broader religious themes that the MMU sought to emphasise across multiple communities and congregations.
The coordinated sermon initiative demonstrates efforts by regional religious bodies to present unified messaging on matters of faith and doctrine to their respective congregations. Such coordinated religious messaging remains relatively uncommon across the Jammu and Kashmir region, making the scale and scope of the October 16 initiative notable.
