MANILA — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) logged over 80,000 passengers traversing ports nationwide Thursday as Filipinos embarked on journeys to observe Undas, the traditional commemoration period honoring the deceased.
According to the PCG's latest passenger count covering the noon to 6 p.m. period, 40,503 travelers departed outbound while 43,593 passengers arrived at various ports across the archipelago.
The heightened maritime traffic reflects the annual surge in movement as families prepare to visit cemeteries and pay respects to deceased loved ones during All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day celebrations. The PCG continues to monitor passenger flow and port operations to ensure safe and efficient maritime transportation throughout the holiday season.
Port authorities have implemented measures to manage the increased volume of travelers amid the seasonal demand for inter-island and coastal transportation services.
