Palawan Rep. Jose Alvarez, who serves as vice chairperson of the House committee on appropriations, addressed concerns about the composition of the OVP's proposed 2027 budget allocation. Alvarez stated that there are no confidential funds included in the spending proposal, providing transparency on the matter during legislative discussions.
The clarification comes as Congress continues its deliberations on the national budget for the coming fiscal year. Budget transparency remains a closely watched issue among legislators and the public, particularly regarding funds allocated to high-level government offices.
Alvarez's statement is intended to assure stakeholders that the OVP's budget proposal adheres to transparency requirements and does not contain hidden or classified allocations. The House committee on appropriations is responsible for reviewing and evaluating budget proposals from various government agencies before they proceed to the full chamber for consideration.
