MANILA — The Office of the Vice President has maintained a pattern of receiving audit flags for its transactions, Batangas Representative Gerville Luistro said Thursday, commenting on fresh observations from the Commission on Audit.
Luistro, speaking during a legislative press briefing on the 2025 Disaster Risk Reduction and Management budget, noted the recurring nature of the COA's findings regarding the OVP's financial operations. The lawmaker's remarks came as lawmakers examined the office's spending practices and accountability measures.
The Commission on Audit report highlighted concerns over the OVP's transaction processes, adding to a growing list of audit observations that have dogged the vice president's office in recent months. These findings have become increasingly significant as Congress scrutinizes government spending and fiscal accountability across all departments and agencies.
The matter underscores ongoing legislative focus on ensuring transparent and compliant budget management within the executive branch, with lawmakers calling for strengthened internal controls and adherence to auditing standards.
