Owaisi Takes Aim At Akhilesh Over Muzaffarnagar Riots Legacy

In a pointed political attack, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi has accused the Samajwadi Party of failing to prevent large-scale communal violence during its rule in Uttar Pradesh. Owaisi's criticism centres on the Muzaffarnagar riots, a series of communal clashes that resulted in significant human displacement and casualties.

Owaisi alleged that approximately 50,000 people were displaced from their homes during the violence when the Samajwadi Party held power in the state. The charge reflects broader concerns about law and order during the SP's governance period, with communal tensions emerging as a key flashpoint of criticism against the party.

The AIMIM leader's remarks appear designed to challenge the Samajwadi Party's secular credentials and governance record. By invoking the Muzaffarnagar riots, Owaisi has sought to draw voter attention to the party's handling of communal tensions during its administration.

The Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav, has faced periodic scrutiny over its management of law and order during its tenure in Uttar Pradesh. The party's response to Owaisi's allegations was not immediately available.
