MANILA — The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (Opapru) has begun work on P135 million worth of road infrastructure projects spanning Nueva Vizcaya, Kalinga and Apayao provinces, according to an announcement on Saturday.

The initiative aims to enhance road access and connectivity in remote communities affected by conflict, with Presidential Peace Adviser Mel Senen Sarmiento joining provincial and local officials for the groundbreaking ceremonies across the three northern locations.

Opapru said the road projects form part of broader efforts to support peace and development in conflict-affected areas by improving basic infrastructure and economic opportunities for local residents.

The projects underscore the administration's commitment to inclusive development in regions transitioning away from armed conflict, with infrastructure improvements intended to facilitate commerce, education and healthcare access in underserved communities.

Details regarding specific road corridors, project timelines and local government partnerships were not immediately disclosed in the official announcement.
