LEGAZPI CITY — The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) is moving forward with plans to develop a forest park on Mt. Isarog in Naga City, positioning the P350-million initiative as a model for responsible tourism development in the region.
TIEZA Chief Operating Officer Mark Lapid outlined the project's dual objectives of attracting visitors to the mountain destination while safeguarding its natural environment. The development is being coordinated with Naga City's local government administration to ensure alignment with municipal development priorities.
The proposed forest park is designed to create economic opportunities through tourism while implementing conservation measures to protect Mt. Isarog's biodiversity and forest resources. Officials have emphasized that the project will operate under strict environmental guidelines to prevent ecological degradation.
Mt. Isarog, located in Camarines Sur province, is known for its rich flora and fauna. The development project represents TIEZA's strategy to unlock the economic potential of underutilized natural attractions across the Philippines while maintaining environmental standards.
