PAC should complete probe, not reject RCI findings, analyst says

The analyst's comments come as the parliamentary body prepares to examine findings from the Royal Commission of Inquiry into 1MDB, which has already compiled substantial evidence regarding the sovereign wealth fund's controversial operations.

Ahmad Zaharuddin stressed that the PAC's responsibility extends beyond merely reviewing the RCI's work. Instead, the committee should conduct additional investigations to either validate, expand upon, or address gaps in the inquiry's conclusions.

He cautioned that any appearance of the PAC working backwards from predetermined outcomes would undermine public confidence in parliamentary oversight mechanisms. The integrity of the investigation, he suggested, depends on following evidence rather than tailoring findings to preferred results.
