Pagasa monitors tropical depression potentially heading toward Philippines
The Philippine weather bureau said Monday that a low-pressure system outside the country's monitoring zone has intensified into a tropical depression. The system could enter the Philippine area of responsibility within days.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it is closely tracking the tropical depression that formed from a low-pressure area previously monitored beyond the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
According to Pagasa's latest advisory, the system poses a potential threat to the country and may move into the PAR in the coming days. The weather bureau typically issues updates every few hours as systems approach the region.
Once the tropical depression enters the PAR, Pagasa will assign it a local name and intensify monitoring efforts. Filipinos are advised to keep updated with official Pagasa bulletins for the latest information on the system's track and intensity.
The monitoring comes amid the active monsoon season in Southeast Asia, during which tropical systems frequently develop and affect the region.
