Pagasa warns of extreme heat in 16 Philippine areas Tuesday

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) identified multiple areas facing hazardous heat conditions in its latest forecast released Monday. The agency warned that heat indices in these 16 locations could reach perilously high levels, posing significant health risks to residents and outdoor workers.

Iloilo City was among the areas flagged by Pagasa as experiencing dangerous heat levels on the forecast day. The state weather bureau did not specify which other 15 localities would face similarly extreme conditions, though previous advisories have identified vulnerable areas across Visayas, Mindanao, and other regions.

Heat indices of 43 degrees Celsius can trigger serious health complications, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Pagasa typically recommends that residents limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours, stay hydrated, and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, or excessive fatigue.

The dangerous heat forecast aligns with the Philippines' hot season, which typically peaks between March and May. Residents and local government units in affected areas are advised to monitor updated weather bulletins from Pagasa for any changes to the heat alert.
