Pahang spends RM3.78m to bolster monsoon readiness across state

KUANTAN — Pahang has allocated RM3.78 million in funding to enhance its disaster response capabilities ahead of the 2024/2025 monsoon season, state authorities announced on Sunday. The investment forms part of a comprehensive preparedness strategy designed to mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall and potential flooding across the state.

As part of the initiative, emergency relief supplies have been distributed to 167 forward bases positioned strategically throughout Pahang. These operational centres will serve as rapid-response hubs during severe weather events, enabling faster deployment of aid and rescue personnel to affected communities.

The allocation reflects growing concerns about monsoon-related disasters in the region, which historically bring significant disruptions to transportation networks and residential areas. State officials have emphasised the importance of pre-positioning resources and maintaining operational readiness to protect residents and minimise economic losses.

The forward bases will stock essential provisions including food, water, medical supplies and rescue equipment. Authorities have also coordinated with relevant agencies to ensure comprehensive coverage across all 14 districts in Pahang, with particular attention given to flood-prone areas.
