KUANTAN — Pakatan Harapan (PH) has completed internal negotiations on seat distribution for Melaka but has not yet secured any formal political cooperation deals with other parties, PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said on Wednesday.
The statement came as the coalition continues discussions on potential alliances ahead of electoral contests. While PH has resolved its internal differences on Melaka's seat allocation among its component parties, extending those negotiations to external partners remains unresolved.
Saifuddin indicated that PH remains open to cooperation with other political entities but emphasised that such arrangements require careful deliberation and mutual agreement. The coalition's readiness to move forward on Melaka matters demonstrates progress on its internal coordination, even as broader alliance discussions continue.
Pakatan Harapan comprises PKR, DAP, and Amanah. The coalition's ability to finalise internal allocations is viewed as an important step in demonstrating unity, though extending these efforts to include other parties presents additional negotiating complexity.
No timeline has been announced for when agreements with other potential partners might materialise. Political observers note that such negotiations often involve complex discussions on seat sharing, policy alignment, and leadership roles.
