Pakistan extends airspace ban on Indian aircraft until November 2026

Pakistan's Airports Authority (PAA) has extended its airspace closure to Indian aircraft by another month, with the restriction now scheduled to remain until 4:59 am on November 24, 2026, according to an announcement made Saturday.

The ban encompasses all Indian-registered planes and aircraft owned, operated or leased by Indian airlines, as well as military flights from India. The restriction applies across both of Pakistan's flight information regions—Karachi and Lahore—following a fresh Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the authority.

The airspace closure, originally imposed on April 23, 2025, has been maintained through successive monthly extensions as tensions persist between the neighbouring nations. The periodic renewal of the ban reflects the ongoing strain in bilateral relations between India and Pakistan.

Pakistan's continued restriction of Indian airspace access has significant implications for flight operations between the two countries, forcing airlines to undertake longer routes around Pakistani airspace to reach destinations in Central Asia and beyond.
