Pakistan Interior Minister to Visit Tehran for Bilateral Talks

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi will travel to Tehran for high-level talks with Iranian government officials, according to reports on Saturday. The visit underscores Pakistan's commitment to maintaining diplomatic engagement with its western neighbor despite growing regional instability.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei clarified that the discussions would be confined to bilateral matters and implementation of previous agreements between Islamabad and Tehran. "The visit of Pakistan's interior minister is entirely within the framework of bilateral discussions," Baghaei said, adding that one of Pakistan's economic ministers is expected to accompany Naqvi on the visit.

The timing of the visit is significant, occurring as tensions escalate across the region. Saudi Arabia has intensified airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen, while the Iran-backed group has responded with drone strikes and missile attacks. Despite these broader regional developments, Tehran has indicated it is not anticipating mediation efforts from Pakistan during the visit.
