Pakistan minister extends invitation to Punjab CM Mann for Lahore conference

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has signalled his willingness to accept an invitation to the Lahore International Punjabi Conference, scheduled to be held from November 27-29 in the Pakistani city. The conference organisers have extended the invitation to the Indian state leader, reflecting growing cultural and intellectual exchanges between the two regions.

Mann's potential attendance would mark a significant cross-border engagement focused on Punjabi language, culture, and heritage. The conference brings together scholars, researchers, and cultural figures to discuss various aspects of Punjabi civilization and linguistic traditions.

Beyond the conference proceedings, Mann has expressed a desire to visit several Sikh shrines located in Pakistan during his potential trip. These visits would hold particular significance given the historical and religious importance of various gurdwaras and pilgrimage sites in Pakistani Punjab to the Sikh community globally.

The proposed visit, if finalised, would reflect the shared cultural heritage between Indian and Pakistani Punjab, despite the political complexities that have historically characterised bilateral relations. Such cultural and religious exchanges have periodically provided avenues for people-to-people connectivity across the border.
