Pakistan pledges military support to Saudi Arabia under new defense pact

Pakistan has committed to deploying its full military capabilities in defense of Saudi Arabia as part of a tripartite defense arrangement, according to Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif. The pledge comes amid escalating tensions in the region stemming from Houthi attacks on Saudi territory, which are backed by Iran.

Asif stated that Pakistan's defense resources would be made available to Riyadh under the terms of the new mutual defense pact signed between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey. The arrangement represents a formalization of regional security cooperation at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions in the Persian Gulf.

The Houthi movement, designated as a terrorist organization by Saudi Arabia and several Western nations, has repeatedly launched drone and missile strikes against Saudi infrastructure. These attacks have escalated in recent months, prompting enhanced security partnerships among regional and allied states.

The three-nation defense framework signals a strengthened security architecture in the Middle East and South Asia region, with Pakistan positioning itself as a key security partner for Gulf states.
