Pakistan PM blames PTI rule for resurgence of terrorism in KP

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched a sharp attack on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government led by Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, accusing it of mishandling the terrorism threat in the region.

Shirif asserted that by 2017-18, terrorist activities had been substantially eliminated in the province, but have gained momentum again since the PTI took charge of the provincial administration. The prime minister argued that the resurgence represents a significant failure of the current provincial government's security policies.

Underscoring terrorism as a major impediment to national progress, Sharif stressed the need for stronger action to curb militant activities. He framed effective counter-terrorism efforts as essential to Pakistan's development and economic advancement, indicating that security challenges directly impact the nation's growth trajectory.

The remarks reflect ongoing political tensions between Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party and Khan's PTI, with security governance emerging as a key point of contention in inter-provincial politics.
