Pakistan PM Extends Dialogue Offer as PTI Intensifies Push for Khan's Release

Pakistan's government signaled willingness to negotiate with the opposition PTI on Tuesday, as the party pressed forward with public demonstrations centered on securing the release of Imran Khan, the former prime minister currently in detention.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended an offer for dialogue with the opposition party, marking a potential shift in the standoff between the ruling coalition and PTI leadership. The offer represents an attempt to de-escalate tensions following weeks of street protests and political pressure from Khan's supporters.
This represents the third round of negotiations between the government and PTI, though previous attempts at dialogue have yielded no concrete results. Officials and party representatives held talks on two earlier occasions without reaching substantive agreements on the contentious issue of Khan's detention or the conditions for his release.
The PTI, which maintains a significant support base despite Khan's legal troubles, has sustained its mobilization campaign despite the lack of progress in previous negotiations. Government officials have suggested that direct engagement could help resolve the political impasse, though both sides remain far apart on key demands.
Khan, who was ousted from office in 2022, faces multiple legal cases in Pakistani courts. His detention has become a rallying point for opposition supporters who view his prosecution as politically motivated.
