Pakistan reaffirms commitment to defend Saudi Arabia under security pact

Pakistan's Defence Minister declared on Tuesday that Islamabad remains bound by the terms of its security arrangement with Saudi Arabia and would fulfil its obligations should the kingdom face external aggression.

"We're committed to the terms and conditions of this pact, and God willing, we will honour this agreement if there is any aggression," the Defence Minister stated, emphasizing there should be no doubt about Pakistan's resolve.

The security pact between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, forged through longstanding diplomatic and military ties, has served as a cornerstone of bilateral relations for decades. Pakistan has maintained a significant military and security presence in Saudi Arabia, with Pakistani armed forces personnel deployed across various capacities in the kingdom.

The reaffirmation comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing security challenges in the Middle East. Pakistan's explicit commitment underscores the strategic importance it places on its relationship with Saudi Arabia, a key ally in the Muslim world and a major source of economic support through remittances and energy cooperation.

Defence analysts note that such public assurances are designed to strengthen confidence between allied nations while signalling stability to international partners and regional actors.
