Pakistan's nuclear adviser levels fresh allegations against India over militant support

Pakistan's former Lieutenant General Maj Jamil, who serves as a nuclear advisor, has alleged that India provides support to proscribed organisations including the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). The accusations were made during a presentation in London, where the defence analyst also commented on India's military operations and weapons systems. India has previously dismissed similar allegations as unfounded.

During the same event, Maj Jamil made assertions regarding Operation Sindoor and Indian military capabilities. Among his claims was a characterisation of India's BrahMos cruise missile as capable of carrying nuclear warheads, a capability that defence analysts have long debated in open literature.

The remarks come amid persistent tensions between India and Pakistan over cross-border militancy and military modernisation. Pakistan regularly accuses India of destabilising activities, charges New Delhi denies. Meanwhile, India has documented Pakistani support networks for various militant groups operating on Indian soil.

Maj Jamil's comments reflect ongoing Pakistani defence establishment concerns about India's strategic weapons development, particularly regarding the country's missile programmes and their potential applications. Such public statements from military-connected officials often reflect broader policy positions within Pakistan's security establishment.
