Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey expedite military force deployment amid Houthi tensions

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey have moved to rapidly deploy military forces to the kingdom as part of their collective defence commitments, according to officials. The Strategic Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Defence Alliance convened for emergency discussions in Riyadh on Monday to respond to escalating security threats facing Saudi Arabia.

The trilateral alliance, formally established in August 2023, creates a framework for joint military action whereby an armed attack against any member nation is treated as an assault on all three. The defence pact represents a significant strategic alignment among the three regional powers with shared security interests.

During the emergency session, officials resolved to transition from planning phases to concrete implementation of their defence obligations. The committee authorised immediate measures to mobilise the agreed military assets and capabilities while streamlining deployment procedures to ensure swift operational readiness across Saudi Arabian territory.

The accelerated deployment comes as Saudi Arabia faces persistent attacks from Yemen's Houthi movement, which has launched multiple drone and missile strikes targeting shipping lanes and critical infrastructure in the region. The emergency convening underscores growing concerns among the three nations regarding maritime security and regional stability in the Arabian Peninsula.
