Pakistan Supreme Court Orders Imran Khan's Hospitalization for Medical Care

A three-member bench of Pakistan's Supreme Court, headed by Justice Shahid Waheed, issued the directive on Tuesday in response to a petition seeking Khan's hospitalization. The bench also included justices Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Ishtiaq Ibrahim.

The ruling represents a significant development in Khan's ongoing legal battles since his arrest last year. The court's decision to transfer him to the private hospital for medical assessment comes amid growing concerns about his health while in detention.

In addition to ordering his hospitalization, the Supreme Court bench issued strict instructions to ensure weekly meetings between Khan and his family members during his incarceration. The directives underscore judicial intervention in the high-profile case of the 71-year-old politician, who has faced multiple charges since his removal from office in 2022.

The Supreme Court's action reflects heightened scrutiny of detention conditions and prisoner welfare standards in Pakistan's judicial system. Khan's legal team had previously raised concerns about his access to medical care while imprisoned.
