The Office of the President has challenged Vice President Sara Duterte to back up her claims with concrete evidence, shifting focus from her assertions of a conspiracy to oust her. Palace Spokesperson Undersecretary Claire Castro said Sunday that if the Vice President faces corruption allegations, she should provide proof to counter them rather than making unfounded accusations against the administration.
Castro's statement comes after dismissed police officer Rodulfo Gracioso Jr. made whistleblower claims regarding the alleged plot. The Palace acknowledged that such allegations warrant investigation but stressed the importance of establishing facts before reaching any conclusions.
The exchange marks the latest development in escalating tensions between the Office of the Vice President and Malacañang. The two branches have been locked in a public dispute in recent weeks, with Duterte making various allegations against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s government.
The Palace reiterated its call for transparency and due process, suggesting that both sides should rely on factual evidence rather than rhetoric in addressing the political standoff.
