MANILA — The Palace moved to reassure Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday that the Philippine National Police would not be used to harm her, following the issuance of an arrest warrant related to accusations of grave threats.
The warrant was issued on three counts of grave threats, allegedly directed at President Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. The charges have intensified political tensions in the country.
Duterte expressed concerns about her personal safety in light of the warrant, stating she no longer felt secure. The Vice President's statements underscored growing friction between her office and the Marcos administration.
