MANILA — The Palace Press Office on Wednesday encouraged Filipinos to gather rainwater during the passage of Super Typhoon Rosal, known internationally as Typhoon Champi, as part of the administration's water management strategy.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro made the appeal during a Palace briefing, noting that the directive aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s earlier advisories on water conservation given the anticipated dry conditions from the El Niño phenomenon.
The call to collect rainwater reflects efforts to maximize water resources during the typhoon season while preparing for potential water shortages during the drier months ahead. The government has stressed the importance of such practical measures for household water security.
Castro also conveyed assurances from the Palace that concerned government agencies have completed their preparations to respond to potential threats and hazards posed by the typhoon. The statement underscores the dual nature of the administration's approach: encouraging public participation in resource management while mobilizing institutional disaster response capabilities.
The public advisory comes as the storm system moves toward the Philippines, with meteorological and disaster management agencies closely monitoring its trajectory and intensity.
