CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The Pampanga provincial government and the provincial chapter of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines completed their joint response Thursday to severe flooding that engulfed sections of the North Luzon Expressway in San Simon, where heavy traffic congestion persisted for as long as eight hours.
The combined cleanup and drainage operations addressed the aftermath of recent monsoon rains that submerged key expressway segments, creating significant disruptions to commuter traffic and commercial transport. Provincial teams deployed equipment and personnel to restore normal flow conditions on the critical national highway corridor.
Provinces officials have released preliminary damage assessments, with provincial losses estimated at P1.339 billion across agricultural, residential, and infrastructure sectors affected by the extended wet weather system. The figure reflects destruction sustained in municipalities throughout Pampanga during the monsoon period.
