Pampanga orders preemptive evacuations as monsoon rains worsen flooding

SAN FERNANDO CITY — Governor Lilia Pineda has ordered a preemptive and forced evacuation of residents in high-risk upland and coastal barangays across Pampanga province as intensified monsoon rainfall triggers widespread flooding.
The evacuation order, issued through Memorandum No. 2026-66 from the Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, directs all municipal mayors to move residents from vulnerable areas to safety ahead of further deterioration in weather conditions.
Pampanga has faced persistent threats from monsoon systems that regularly inundate low-lying communities and areas prone to waterlogging. The preemptive approach aims to prevent casualties and ensure residents are sheltered before conditions become more hazardous.
Local government units have been instructed to coordinate with the provincial disaster management office to establish evacuation centers and provide necessary assistance to displaced families. The province continues to monitor rainfall patterns and flood conditions across all municipalities.
