Pan-Borneo Highway project payments on track, says deputy minister

Deputy Public Works Minister Ahmad Maslan said Thursday that payment schedules for Phase 1A and Phase 1B of the Pan-Borneo Highway project are being executed in line with physical progress at the construction sites. The assurance comes as the government continues to oversee one of Malaysia's most significant infrastructure undertakings, which spans across Sarawak and Sabah.

The phased payment structure ensures that contractor disbursements correspond directly with measurable construction milestones and on-ground development, maintaining fiscal accountability while supporting project continuity. This approach allows the ministry to verify work completion before releasing funds to contractors involved in the highway's development.

The Pan-Borneo Highway, a critical transport corridor for the East Malaysian states, has been prioritized as part of broader efforts to improve connectivity and economic development in the region. Both phases of the initial construction stage remain essential components of the overall project timeline.

The deputy minister's statement seeks to reinforce confidence in the project's financial management as construction activity continues across multiple work zones in both Sarawak and Sabah.
