LINGAYEN – Pangasinan province has consolidated its economic dominance in the Ilocos region, with growth figures released by the Philippine Statistics Authority and the Department of Economy, Planning and Development showing robust expansion during 2025.
The province recorded a 4.3 percent economic growth rate and generated P408.45 billion in total economic output, outpacing other provinces in the northern Luzon region. The performance underscores Pangasinan's position as the economic engine of Ilocos, driven by agriculture, manufacturing, and trade sectors.
Social indicators also improved, with poverty incidence declining to 8.6 percent, reflecting gains in household income and living standards across the province. The reduction signals progress in poverty alleviation efforts coordinated between provincial and national government agencies.
Economists attributed Pangasinan's strong performance to sustained investments in infrastructure, agricultural modernization, and support for small and medium enterprises. The province's strategic location along major transport corridors continues to advantage its commercial and industrial development.
Provinces across the Ilocos region are expected to release their final economic performance reports this month, providing a comprehensive picture of northern Luzon's economic trajectory in the post-pandemic recovery phase.
