LINGAYEN – Pangasinan has demonstrated substantial advancement in meeting international development benchmarks, according to findings from the Pangasinan SDGs Report released this week. The provincial government's coordinated implementation of programs aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals has yielded measurable results across multiple sectors.
The province's SDG score climbed from 50 in 2019 to 89 in 2024, representing a 78-percent improvement over the five-year period. The assessment measures progress toward a target score of 102, indicating that Pangasinan is approaching full achievement of key development objectives.
Notable gains have been recorded in food security and health outcomes, two critical areas identified in the UN development framework. The improvements reflect targeted initiatives undertaken by the provincial administration to strengthen agricultural productivity, enhance healthcare delivery, and address social needs across the region's communities.
Researchers conducting the study noted that Pangasinan's progress demonstrates the effectiveness of implementing SDG-aligned strategies at the provincial level. Officials indicated that continued efforts in priority areas should enable the province to meet or exceed its development targets in coming years.
