LINGAYEN — Pangasinan's persistent flooding requires a coordinated "whole-of-government and convergence approach" involving provincial, local, and national agencies, according to Vice Governor Mark Lambino.
Lambino highlighted the need for a province-wide flood mitigation strategy during a Monday gathering, emphasizing that local government units must work collaboratively rather than implement isolated solutions.
The call for unified action comes as the province continues to grapple with recurring inundation that affects multiple municipalities. Officials recognize that fragmented responses to flooding have proven inadequate in protecting residents and infrastructure across the region.
The proposed coordinated approach would leverage resources and expertise from various government levels to develop comprehensive flood management plans. Such integration is expected to improve response times, optimize drainage systems, and enhance early warning mechanisms across Pangasinan's vulnerable areas.
