Pangasinan's water reserves bolstered by monsoon rains ahead of dry season
Heavy rains during August and September have replenished Pangasinan's water supplies, providing relief as the province faces the approaching dry season and intensifying El Niño conditions. The seasonal downpours have recharged both surface and groundwater sources across the region.

LINGAYON, Pangasinan — Pangasinan has received a much-needed boost to its water reserves following an active monsoon season, officials said, as the province prepares for drier months ahead and the ongoing effects of El Niño.
The confluence of the Southwest monsoon and tropical cyclone activity during August and September delivered substantial rainfall across the province. The precipitation filled major reservoirs, including the San Roque Multipurpose Project facilities, while also replenishing underground aquifers that supply communities throughout the region.
The seasonal rains have provided crucial buffers against the anticipated water scarcity expected during the dry months, when El Niño conditions typically intensify. Officials noted that the reprieve from monsoon-driven rainfall gives the province additional time to manage its water resources strategically as weather patterns shift toward the hotter, drier season.
The San Roque Multipurpose Project, a key infrastructure facility serving the province, has been among the primary beneficiaries of the recent precipitation, with reservoir levels reaching improved capacity. The recharged groundwater sources are expected to provide supplementary supplies for agricultural, industrial, and residential users across Pangasinan.
