MANILA — Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan questioned the shift in ownership at Cale88 Foods Corp. on Tuesday, drawing attention to substantial financial movements recorded by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) spanning the past three years.
According to AMLC records reviewed by Pangilinan, the food company processed more than P1.25 billion in transactions from 2022 through 2025. The inquiry follows Securities and Exchange Commission testimony indicating that lawyer Manases "Mans" Carpio, husband of Vice President Sara Duterte, held a 47.5 percent stake in the corporation.
Pangilinan's concerns center on the apparent changes in the company's ownership structure and the timing of these transitions relative to the large volume of financial activity. The senator's investigation reflects ongoing scrutiny into business dealings connected to prominent government officials and their families.
The AMLC, Philippines' financial intelligence unit, monitors large transactions to detect potential money laundering and terrorist financing. The scale of transactions at Cale88 Foods Corp. has drawn official attention as part of broader oversight mechanisms.
