Mayor Edgardo 'Boy' Arcay of Panglao issued Executive Order No. 44, Series of 2026, on Monday, requiring all bars, pubs, nightclubs, karaoke bars, videoke joints and comparable nighttime entertainment establishments to close their doors to customers at the stroke of midnight.
The order takes effect immediately and applies to all entertainment venues across the municipality. Arcay cited the necessity of maintaining peace and order in the community as the primary rationale for the measure.
The executive order represents the local government's effort to regulate late-night activities and their potential impact on public safety. Establishment operators are expected to comply with the new operating hours, with enforcement to be carried out by relevant municipal authorities.
The decision affects the nightlife sector in Panglao, a popular tourist destination in Bohol province. The order comes as municipalities across the Philippines continue implementing various measures to manage public order and community safety.
