Pant to bat lower in order at Delhi Capitals, confirms Ganguly

Rishabh Pant will not be afforded a top-order batting position at Delhi Capitals following his return to the franchise, newly appointed head coach Sourav Ganguly has made clear. The clarification comes as Pant prepares for his second stint with the Delhi-based IPL team after his previous association with the club ended in 2021.

Pant had expressed a preference to bat higher up the order during his captaincy at Lucknow Super Giants last season. However, his batting performance in that role proved disappointing, prompting the Delhi franchise to reassess his position in the lineup.

Ganguly's decision to deploy Pant in the middle order marks a notable shift in strategy for the returning player. The move suggests the franchise believes the wicketkeeper-batter's strengths are better utilised at a different position in the batting hierarchy.

Pant's return to Delhi Capitals represents a significant development in the franchise's squad composition ahead of the upcoming IPL season. The team's new coaching setup under Ganguly appears focused on optimising the batting lineup based on recent form and performance metrics.
