Parliament approves salary increases for President and parliamentary leaders

Parliament has given its approval to salary increases for the President, Speaker of Parliament and Deputy Speakers, reflecting adjustments to senior government remuneration.

The President's privy purse, which covers salary and medical benefits, will be raised from $1,568,900 to $2,568,200. The increase represents a substantial uplift in compensation for the nation's ceremonial head of state.

The approval comes as part of broader parliamentary consideration of executive and legislative compensation. Similar increases have been extended to other senior parliamentary officials, including the Speaker and Deputy Speakers, whose salaries will also be adjusted upward.

The salary revisions mark the latest adjustment to official compensation levels, typically reviewed periodically to reflect economic conditions and cost-of-living changes.
