The 2027 Appropriation Bill is set to be tabled in Parliament on Monday, following its recent gazetting. The legislation charts government expenditure allocations totalling Rs. 4,992.77 billion for the fiscal year ahead.
Parliamentary consideration of the Bill represents the first formal stage of the budgetary process. The measure will subsequently advance to its Second Reading, when President Dissanayake, acting in his capacity as Minister of Finance, will deliver the comprehensive 2027 Budget Speech on November 12.
The budget framework will establish spending priorities and resource allocation across government ministries and departments for the coming year. The Bill's passage through Parliament is a critical step in finalising the government's fiscal roadmap.
