KUALA LUMPUR — Parliament is set to examine measures aimed at improving the management of underperforming infrastructure and development projects, with legislators expected to review existing contractor vetting procedures and performance benchmarks.

The focus on contractor selection reflects growing concerns about project delays and cost overruns across government-funded initiatives. Strengthening assessment criteria is intended to ensure greater accountability and improve delivery timelines for essential development work.

In a separate matter, lawmakers will also address copyright and intellectual property issues related to the legacy of P. Ramlee, the iconic Malaysian filmmaker and performer whose works remain culturally significant across the region.

The parliamentary session underscores the government's commitment to improving project governance while protecting Malaysia's cultural heritage and intellectual property rights. Both agenda items reflect broader concerns about institutional efficiency and the safeguarding of national assets.
