Members of a parliamentary panel have sought detailed village-wise data on the implementation of the PM-JANMAN scheme in Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) areas, citing inadequate responses to recent child mortality incidents among the Baiga community in Madhya Pradesh.
The committee has expressed concern over persistent gaps in healthcare delivery, drinking water access, and telecommunications coverage in PVTG habitations across the region. These infrastructure and service deficiencies have been identified as contributing factors to the health crisis affecting vulnerable tribal populations.
The PM-JANMAN scheme, designed to improve living standards in PVTG communities through focused development initiatives, remains unevenly implemented across different villages. The parliamentary panel's request for granular village-level saturation data reflects concerns that programme benefits are not reaching all eligible habitations equally.
The committee's intervention underscores growing scrutiny of government mechanisms for protecting tribal children from preventable deaths.
