Parliamentary panel urges NGT to strengthen environmental oversight

A parliamentary panel has pressed the National Green Tribunal to exercise its powers more aggressively when tackling major environmental concerns, reflecting growing concerns about the pace of environmental enforcement in India.

The committee has recommended that the tribunal adopt a more proactive stance in addressing environmental violations and degradation. The committee emphasized that accountability frameworks must be strengthened to ensure swift execution of NGT directives.
