Party-list congressman enters not guilty plea in graft case

Party-list Representative James 'Jojo' Ang of Uswag Ilonggo entered a not guilty plea to two graft charges before the Sandiganbayan Sixth Division on Tuesday, according to court records.
Ang faces 14 counts of violating Republic Act No. 3019, also known as the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. Two of these charges were assigned to the Sixth Division for trial.
The cases stem from allegations of misconduct during his tenure. The congressman's legal team contested the charges before the anti-graft court, which handles cases involving public officials accused of corruption and illegal enrichment.
The Sandiganbayan will proceed with hearing the evidence in the coming months. Ang's case is among several graft matters involving lawmakers currently pending before the specialized court.
